Konza Prairie Quilters' Guild |
No Place Like Home owner, Karalee Austin, lived in Utah for many years where she worked in the computer software industry. Aging parents and a desire to pursue her quilting interests brought Karalee back home to Minneapolis, KS. Even though Karalee's mother was a fantastic seamstress, it wasn't until later in life that Karalee developed a love for sewing. While living in Utah, a friend taught her how to tie her first quilt. From there, Karalee went on to teach herself how to make a log cabin quilt with the help of some quilting books by Eleanor Burns...and that's when she became addicted and started dreaming of owning her own quilt shop. The shop's name "No Place Like Home" was appropriately inspired by the movie The Wizard of Oz. The great thing is, our store really is like coming home...with a friendly staff and a cozy environment. During the afternoon workshop, Karalee guided guild members through the making of a jelly roll rug or a table topper. |
