Celebrating Our Own!

It was a delight to have our very own Donna Dawson and her daughters provide our May program.  Like their mom, Donna, Sherry, Debbie, and Angie are all talented quilters, and you will see in the gallery just a few of the many quilts that they shared.

-Let's begin by going back two generations. Donna's Grandma and Aunt Eunice made this delightful quilt with pink background accented by embroidered butterflies.

-Another family heirloom is the Shining Stars quilt was begun by Donna's mom who completed all of the embroidered star squares and was later completed by Donna. Donna's mom also made wedding quilts for each of her granddaughters. What treasures!

-During COVID, Donna took on this colorful, scrappy quilt, with careful piecing and applique'. The center tree and vining border add a beautiful and calm focus to the many varied colors in the quilt.

-Donna's daughter, Debbie, made the soccer-themed t-shirt quilt for her son. T-shirt quilts make such wonderful memory quilts! Debbie also shared a Quilt of Valor that she made, featuring a bald eagle central panel. So much symbolism is embedded in this quilt.

-I am sharing the back of Sherry's Puzzle Quilt to remind us all how important it is to document our quilts with labels.  This delightful label includes the names of grandchildren who formed the Goldfish Club. Sherry also showed the Butterfly art piece, pattern and fabric by Tula Pink.

-One of the quilts shared by Donna's daughter, Angie, was her wedding quilt that was made by her grandmother, Donna's mom. Angie also showed a red and blue flannel rag quilt. Oh my, can you imagine how cozy this quilt would be!

All of these women share time quilting and reminded us of the Joy of Shop Hops, a fun, social experience that allow us to see new fabrics and help build a stash for the future, including future generations.
Thank you for a delightful family program, Ladies!
