Konza Prairie Quilters' Guild |
We had wonderful participation in our Panelmania Quilt Guild Challenge Reveal with twenty-six members submitting quilts and several submitting more than one creation. Sharon Johns was recognized for contributing four entries. What an amazing array of quilts that can be designed by incorporating a panel! Animals from land, sea, sky, and the mythical world; all seasons of the year; holidays across the year; nature's glorious landscape; travel, and appreciation for veterans were all represented in the displayed quilts. The quilts in the gallery are displayed in no particular order and were not all able to be fully displayed due to space limitations. Thank you to the following guild members who participated in the challenge: Montika Allen-Atkinson, Mimi Benedick, Susie Clayton, Lynn Colquhoun, Debbie Conrad, Michelle, Crisler, Donna Dawson, Kathy Garvin, Vickie Greenwood, Lori Gray, Mary Jo Hawkinson, Lois Hoerner, Sharon Johns, Donna Johnson, Dona Kostner, Alison McCullough, Ginny Petersen, Ruth Prescott, Pam Russell, Elaine Shannon, Laura Soelter, Karen Spaeth, Donna Van Guilder, Susie Weir, Carla Williams, Barbara Wright. Awards were given to the three quilts with the most votes by members attending the meeting. Coordinator, Jody Cheatum, indicated that many quilts were in contention and the voting was close. First Place was awarded to Montika Allen-Atkinson for her Strong Woman quilt, Second Place was awarded to Carla Williams for her quilt, My Flower Garden, although Carla said that it could be titled It Takes a Village due to the help from friends in fabric selection and encouragement. Third Place was awarded to Ginny Petersen for the Window Panel Christmas Tree, subdivided into narrower panels with soft gray accent fabric staggering the tree's width and height. Congratulations, Quilters! |
