May 2025 Show and Share

Wowzers! Since we did not have Show and Tell in April due to a double program, May was packed with an abundance of new quilts and projects. We have a very creative bunch in KPQG!
-President Michelle Crisler started us off by sharing the long heritage of quilting in her family.  The first quilt in the gallery is Michelle's Gr. Grandma's Quilt with greens and grays on a white background. Secondly, Michelle showed her Grandma's Bucket Calf Quilt, followed by a V-shaped Bargello Quilt in blues, tans, and browns. Michelle's table runner is two-sided so can be flipped over for a fresh look.  Michelle's grandson, Matthew joined her on stage to help with displaying quilts, but more importantly, to show that he is also a quilter. Yes, the blue background sets off his sports themed offset blocks to best advantage. Well done, Matthew! Keep quilting!

-Beverly Holdren honored families on two special occasions with an Adoption Quilt and a Nurse's Pinning Memory Quilt. These will be treasured!

-Jodie Cheatum's talent was evident in her creation of the framed art quilt of the Panama Canal. She also completed a Christmas quilt-as-you-go from a class that she took in Branson. If you see Jody out and about, she may be carrying her quilted handbag, and she made a woven basket for keeping odds and ends in.

-Carol Pacey excels in her quilt designs. Those jewel tones almost glow against the white background and the echoing colors in the border enhance the body of the quilt. In her second quilt, note how the  pieced wheels really pop against the green background in this smaller quilt.

-Lois Hoerner uses contrasting blue, black, and turquoise fabrics with a space theme to give her quilt the suggestion of heading off into the unknown. A special little person will enjoy sweet dreams of adventure with this quilt.  Wow! This Red and White Quilt with a scalloped border reflects careful, detailed curved piecing.

-Phyllis Norton shared this charming quilt in varying shades of pinks that will warm the heart and bed of yet another special little person!

-Debbie Conrad's contemporary quilt in greens and tans on a white background is an enticement to head to the mountains. Yes...it's summertime!

-Dona Koster's lovely creation in royal blue, light gray and white is entitled Splendid Star and is from a Blue Quilt Sisters pattern. This quilt almost shouts, "Hallelujah!"

-Ruth Prescott shared two kid-friendly cheerful quilts. First, one with a fish theme in cool blues and greens, and one with hearts appliqued between cool stripes that sends a message of love to its user.

-Janet Finney was loaded with goodies today. To begin with, she showed her Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt, with peaceful pale green sashing and borders surrounding embroidered flowers.  Next Janet shared a long-stitching feathered circle in tone on tone ivory.  Black Labs were recognized with two quilts featuring Labs in the bodies of the quilts, outlined by cozy plaids. Lastly, Janet shared a vintage Fan Quilt which appears to be beautifully made from scraps, which she found in a budget shop.

-In closing we have a pretty quilt with a cross in the center that is unclaimed. May we all be warmed by the blessings that quilting and stitching brings to our lives!
