Konza Prairie Quilters' Guild |
April Show and Share
Wowzers! What an amazing array of quilts we shared at our April meeting!
-Hope Wright treated us to four creations: an online Block Hop quilt called So Social; a flying geese quilt for Camp David, a camp for children with incarcerated parents; a UFO quilt from her mother labeled Many Hands for the many family members who contributed to its completion; a temperature quilt with LeMoyne Stars. Can you trace the temperature range?
-Carla Williams shared the classic pattern Bear Paws in a variety of cheerful colors.
-Vickie Greenwood's Big House quilt was made from a kit from Quilter's Station and quilted by Peggy Fanning.
-Kathy Garvin's small blue and green Sprinkles quilt is going to QFTH. Thank you, Kathy! She also set her favorite rich red and white blocks from the 2026 BOM in a 3 x 3 layout.
-Susie Clayton's block-within-a-block quilt in earth tones makes a perfect cover for chilly days and nights.
-Jody Cheatum showed off a new pair of sneakers. Yep...these are her quilted shoes from a workshop at KC Makers Studio.
-Phyllis Norton's Spring Bouquet is a beautiful gift that is going to her grandson and fiance' as a wedding gift. Oh, what a treasure!
-Montika Allen-Atkinson's wall hanging was made in recognition of National Loving Day, depicting one groom, but two brides, in two weddings, in two countries: Africa and America. The cultural vows for each are embroidered into the background of this quilt.
-Nancy Hubbard's quilt was made with garage sale fabric just to use up her stash but was claimed by her sister to give to Nancy's toddler great-nephew.
-Patty Nelson's lovely quilt, Ruffled Roses, is Sue Garman design with piecing and needle turn applique' and was custom quilted by Julia Quiltoff. What a beauty this is!
-Nancy Rezac's array of hearts with cheerful green sashing was enriched with hand quilting.
-Kay Scheffer was showing her K-State Pride with the two quilts that she shared. One features Modern Cherrywood Fabric in a quilt that she earned a ribbon for at the Dallas Quilt Show. Secondly, Kay borrowed inspiration from Sarah Hibbert Designs in creating a scrambles Power Cat logo.
-Mimi Benedick's mini quilts were all made with her own hand dyed fabric and embellished with intricate quilting. These cheery designs of a warm, smiling sun; an orange and green medallion; and a blue bird will add warmth to any small space.
Laura Fraire's friend, Jenny, from A Wing and A Prayer inspired her fabric selections with meandering Dresden style quilt and a king-sized quilt using shades of purple and tans.
Michelle Crisler chose to diminish her paisley fabric stash by creating a wreath with a star center. She also used a bison focal point in the Panel Challenge for the Wamego Quilt Guild.
-Elaine Shannon was one of many guild members who helped at the Flint Hills Discovery Center Meet the Makers event. She was demonstrating machine applique' which led to the completion of this Spring Blooms quilt.
