Konza Prairie Quilters' Guild |
September Show and Share
Show and Share is always a highlight of every meeting when we witness the creativity and expertise of members.
*Michelle Crisler started us off by sharing a beautiful Paris themed quilt in soft grays and pinks that she made for her daughter.
*Alison McCullough has been busy piecing and quilting her own creations this month starting with the cute LOVE wall hanging, another Pumpkin quilt for fall decor, and a T-shirt quilt with a drama and music theme. And what about that quilted coat, Alison?
*Ronna Robertson showed two small creations: a tote bag made with navy fabric featuring hedgehogs and mushrooms. The second item was created based on Lana Arpin's demo at the August Sew Day, which is Snap Bag made with strawberry fabric.
*LuAnn Hoover has demonstrated her use of skills that have been featured in previous programs. Her String Quilt in fun floral colors is a quilt-as-you-go project and will be a donation to our Quilts From the Heart collection.
*Pam Russell was the recipient of these beautifully embroidered Red Work blocks. Pam completed the quilt and hand quilted it. Lovely!
*Dona Koster shared a fall wool mat that is such a sweet table decor, and the mind-boggling Optical Illusion quilt that she made as a Challenge Quilt for a friends' quilting group is utterly amazing! The autumn themed bow was a gift from her sister that will adorn her front door.
*Carla Williams shared the Hollyhocks project from the July workshop which will be a gift to her four-year-old granddaughter.
*Lynn Calquhoun had fun making this classic red and pink quilt. Lynn also shared a quilt that she made as a follow-up to a workshop on enhancing quilt borders. Isn't that picket fence just a perfect complement?
*Jody Cheatum's shares were for a special 47-year-old niece who will be having her first baby! This Stars and Moon quilt is so sweet and is complemented by the large Camden bag that Jody will fill with baby goodies.
*Laura Soelter's Quilt of Valor features a diamond shaped flag pattern, which was quilted by Alison McCullough. Laura added the Magic Flange binding in a red and white stripe.
*Phyllis Norton's quilt Twists and Turns is an eye-catching design made from earth-toned Stonehenge fabrics.
*Shelbey McEndarfer was a guest who brought a collection of darling swirly skirts, one of which was modeled by her daughter whose skirt was designed from a vintage tablecloth embellished with hand-dyed doilies. And yes, it does twirl! The baby swirly skirt was made by using her grandmother's hankies, and the purse was made from an old pillowcase enhanced with more hankies.
* As you view Ruth Prescott's quilt, you will notice an abundance of pink, even though Ruth has never been fond of pink. In spite of that, this quilt turned out to be one of Ruth's favorites. It was quilted by Melody Day.
*Karen Spaeth is our Wool Wonder Woman! Her expertise is apparent in these mini wool quilts. The medallion table topper with multiple embellished circles resemble yo-yos, but are all wool.
*Mary Jo Hawkinson has been busy making these cute fall pillows which will be a hostess gift for a friend she is visiting in Wyoming.
*Patty Nelson shared the delightful news of her awards at the Kansas State Fair. She won first place ribbons in three different divisions, so we can't wait to see the photos when she has the quilts back! Patty also won an Honorable Mention at the American Quilter's Society (AQS) in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We are so proud of you, Patty!
