August 14 Show and Tell

While we enjoyed seeing several floral themed quilts, a Mystery Quilt is always a good way to open Show and Tell. Lynn Colquoun's pink, gray, and black design by Judy Hopkins was a fun one. Lynn's Ukrainian Sunflower quilt is shown in support of that war torn country.  Elaine Shannon shared her colorful, floral Midnight Garden quilt.  What a beautiful horse is highlighted by golds and browns in Melody Day's aptly named quilt, Spirited!  The rich golds of Mimi Benedict's beautiful Medallion quilt have been intricately quilted by Mimi. Zoom in for a closer look.  In a very timely presentation, Pam Russell showed off her Hawaiian floral quilt, named Ohia Lehua Blossom. "The lehua is the first tree that springs up from a recent lava flow, signifying rebirth.  It's for that reason, when we speak in Hawaiian and we speak of people who are skilled, strong, and beloved, they are often referred to as pua lehua, or lehua flowers."  Patty Nelson completed her 2022 BOM bird quilt with a feather quilted border.  Patty also shared another outstanding award-winning quilt, Twilight Garden, featuring wool applique on navy felt.  You can view the entire quilt as well as several individual blocks to see her detailed work of art!
