If it's Wamego Tulip Festival Time, then it's Quilt Throwdown Time!

Again, the 2025 Throwdown was a 90-minute challenge between the
Kaw Valley Quilt Guild of Wamego with the Konza Prairie Quilter's Guild
in a race to create a quilt of the same pattern for a child paired with each guild.
The children selected 20 fabrics from which to make 10 blocks and then chose
the layout of her quilt once the blocks were completed.
Those speedy stitching Kaw Valley  Quilters raced to the finish first,
but contestants and audience members all had a fun morning on a beautiful spring day!

You Are An Artist; Your Quilts Are Valuable!

As quilters, we have various reasons and motivation for sitting down, cutting up fabric into smaller pieces and stitching those pieces back together in a new pattern. You might quilt to have an outlet for your creativity; you might want to make a memory quilt for a special family occasion or a legacy quilt to be handed down to other family members. Many of us quilt for gifts, for home decor, to experiment with a new technique,  or to make a cozy cover for a chilly night. Some of us quilt because we love the colors and textures of fabrics; we might want to be thrifty and reuse scraps, to enjoy the challenge of designing something unique, or simply for relaxation and therapy.

For whatever reason you are a quilter, have you stopped to think what a treasure you have in your collection of quilts?  Here are some ideas from just one source (AI) on how to determine how much your quilt is worth.  "Determining the value of a quilt involves several factors, including the age, condition, rarity, craftsmanship, historical significance, and of course, sentimental significance.  A written appraisal by a certified appraiser can offer an unbiased opinion of value, but you can also estimate value by considering factors like material costs, labor, and artistic value."  The following list is simply an estimate for one quilt by one quilter with already outdated labor costs, but it provides a perspective. Remember that you are the skilled creator and your time and expertise must always be factored in.
Don't underestimate your own worth!
